No Love for Cider

A pair of bills moving through the Florida Legislature (summarized here) will finally change the antiquated law that limits the container size for beer sold in the state. We can hopefully look forward to taking home a 64 oz growler from our favorite Florida breweries (or ABC Fine Wines & Spirits). Not if that growler is full of cider.

Under current Florida law, cider also cannot be sold in containers of more than 32 oz and less than 1 gallon. But SB 406 and HB 283, which will fix the law covering beer, don’t do anything to change the law for cider.

Probably an oversight by the bills’ sponsors, Senator Jack Latvala, Representative Frank Artiles, and Representative Dana Young. Somebody buy them a Kelly’s Irish Hard Cider quickly!
